The word, 'STRESS', has been in the mouth of people for hundreds of centuries before now and most times when people mysteriously dies we quickly check if such a one is a workaholic and if it mistakenly favours that scenerio we conclude by saying 'Stressful' working killed him/her even though it may not be the real case.
Everywhere we go even though the modern World have been curtailed to being a global village, it's also innerly known that this is the era of stress and Anxiety.
Whether you're a black, white, red or green person this word has no respect for nationality or ethics.
Now, what is Stress? Stress according to Selyle in 1956 is the pressure experienced by a person in response to life demands. It ranges from discomfort to anxiety to tension and the likes.
Well, these 'Demands' are coined into the world 'Stressor'. There are life events, environmental conditions even physical thoughts in that world 'Stressor'.
So we define Stressor as any circumstance which compels or forces an Individual to change his or her own way of Adaptation.
It brings frustration, traffic, noise, economic instability, political upheavals, spiritual and even marital difficulties -STRESS!
In my mode of evergreen researching i collided on two sources from where Stress could skyrocket from and they are the External (Outwardly)Sources and the Internal (Inwardly) Sources.
With that blockage open, let's breakdown the External sources to our barest understanding; One a layman could grasp at his fingertips. Okay lets go!
For the External source, there are Four Stuffs of External stuffs we will talk about here. The number One major Source of External Stress is our Physical Environment. In fact, this layer is one of the most addictive layer in all the blocks of Stress frameworks.
And they are Noise, bright light, heat, even a confined place take for example, a Prison yard. Noise is a very wicked pollution the World cannot recover from since it's inherent and a part of the twenty-first century Survival.
Too much of bright light, heat can resurrect Stress terminals in the body and could make the victim appear mad.
Actually, the five minutes controversial madness is a plus to this aspect. People who stay in a confined place like prisons or criminal cells have the tendency to be hostile and very distressful- your everyday interactions.
Stuffs like conflicts, pressure, Bossiness, stubborness most times raging in the family life structures before pouring out into the country and society form the constituency of the segment.
Structure and Analytical Source is also involved and it has it's tangles in the rules, regulations, deadlines you make, sometimes failing to be updated as regards your code of conduct could spell out Stress into the victim.
And also there is the life event cause. Causes like Death, Birth, being fired from ones job, your promotion, retirement, divorce, even marital Status change could dagger-up Stress.
Daily Hassles like Traffic, Job hunting, misplaced keys and documents are all linked up in External Sources of Stress. The internal sources have four would-be dealt stuffs in it's confines.
The number One branch of this internal Sources is Negative Self-Speaking.
Someone who's battling with Stress could have a pessimistic mindset, be over analyzing minor issues that may not hold weight and be Self-criticizing.
Secondly, such a one will or may have dangerous lifestyle decisions like Inadequate or lack of sleep, Unforgiveness, substance abuse eg, Drug, Sex abuse, Feelings of quilt and of course spiritual upheaval or instability.
Thirdly, there is the Trap of the mind which includes Unreasonable expectations, Act of taking all issues personally, exaggeration, all or zero thinking and such person(s) could be very rigid in their thinking level-very difficult in their thought life.
Lastly, in this sphere, there is the Workaholic and perfectionist trait following the victims of Stress. You may be shocked at the last branch i just mentioned above but, the whole truth is that, Stress could be good or bad, helpful or dangerous, energizing or deflating depending on what its effect entails.
There is Di-stress(Distress) also called The Negative Stress which is a continuous feeling of being oppressed, relegated, neglected, and behind our assigned responsiblity(ies)-Ones so huge you can't find any light in the extreme end of the tunnel and Eu-stress(Eustress)-The positive Stress, which is that continuous Energy motivator that' s very beneficial and that has the power to reach and achieve our goals.
You are the problem and you're the Solution.
So if you're Tensed up, Elated, Depressed, Angry, Anxious, , Weak or Tired, well it's all pointing that your body is Stress-ful.
Now, let's take a Snapshot of the pathophysiology of the spherical and two-sided purge called STRESS.
When the body is faced with Stress it activates and releases physiological and behavioral responses that help to -reestablish, re-energize and maintain the body Stability.
Some key majors of Stress System are The Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and the Hypothalamic Pituitary-adrenal(HPA) axis and they consonant with other important segments in the (CNS)-The Central Nervous System and Organs or Tissues in the Peripheral Nervous System(PNS) and they are Sucessful agents to Adaptive response against imposed Stressor(s).
When Stress System (Hypo or Hyper activation) has dysregulated and it's consonanted by chronic and potent Stress, the body's homeostasis could be unarguably disrupted (disease causing) paving way for Allostasis or Cacostasis having spectrum and lines of clinical manifestations that is very bad for the body system.
With Intensive demands on the emental or physical buildwork of the body can result in Adrenaline and Cortisol secretion- Hormone Secretion.
Normally, Adrenaline takes up or increases the heart rate, point-up the blood pressure and therefore boost the supply of energy in the body system.
Cortisol on the other hand (A basic Stress control hormone) enhances the Glucose (Sugar) in the blood, increases the activity of the brain as regarding its use of glucose and also step-up the rampardness of substances used to repair and re-energize Tissues.
Cortisol is the natural alarm system in the body and it does it job as it connects with the brain to control motivation, fear and bad or good moods.
Actually, even if it's not un-automatic (meaning it's automatic), it really depends on ways the person or victim wants its body's Stress-response to fall into.
What i meant is that, it is Self-limiting. You're the main Controller. You decide the amount of Stress response you need at that particular moment.
Cortisol changes the immune system responses(What i have being speaking on ante), and also suppresses the growth process, reproductive and digestive system of the body layer.
Now, until your thought or perceived Threat is gone and passed, ones hormone cannot return to normalcy.
But when your Cortisol or Adrenaline levels drop, then your heartbeat and blood pressure can then return to their basic levels and also, the regular activities of other system will resume.
If Stressors are constantly present innerly making you to feel always under attack, that flight or fight reaction always stays on and agile.
For short term activation, it's okay and normal but when it crosses to become some Long term issues as regards its activation (Stress-response system), and more than required exposure to Stress hormones like our good Alerter 'Cortisol', it can put almost all the body processes in disarray, disease sets in and health problems scrape-out from under the surface emerge and that's a risk that is worth avoiding.
In recapitulation, i will ear-mark by saying that, the understanding of your body, the dos and don't and what it collects or rejects-That wonderful comprehension of your own body will add more life, zeal and un-relenting grace for immense Survival to you.
